According to the most recent Rasmussen reports national telephone survey, 55% favor repealing the new health care legislation. Forty-two percent (42%) oppose repeal. Those figures include 46% who strongly favor repeal and 35% who strongly Oppose it.

These numbers are pretty close and is scares me to death. people who approve of the health care reform bill are accusing those who are against it of being hateful and against poor people. As part of the 55% of Americans in favor of repealing the legislation I am not hateful, especially of the poor.

My family falls under the poverty line and many people would consider us poor. My spouse makes less than 30 thousand a year and we have four children. yes our lives are difficult and I would love it if we had better health insurance. but I still believe that we could reform our health care system in a different manner.

I don’t want “Big Brother” telling me where I can go and see a doctor, what types of medical treatment I can have, etc. The new health care law is going to result in rationing of medical services and hospitals are going to lose staff.

I also agree with the 14 states that are filing lawsuits claiming that the new law is unconstitutional. They claim that it encroaches on states’ sovereignty. Florida attorney general bill McCollum said that the mandate would cost Florida at least $1.6 billion in Medicaid alone.[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8e0vcgE_tAw&hl=en_US&fs=1&]The Christian science monitor reported that, “At the center of the debate is bill’s inclusion of a federal mandate requiring all Americans to purchase health insurance or face penalties. Opponents say this measure stretches Congress’s constitutional power to “regulate commerce among the several states.”

Twelve of the now fourteen states that have filed suits include, Florida, South Carolina, Alabama, Nebraska, Texas, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Washington, Utah, North Dakota and South Dakota.

What do you think? Do you think that these lawsuits are going to work in repealing the new law? Are you in favor of repealing the health care reform act?
